Market update 13/04/2020
All our plants have taken adequate steps in line with the social distance policy issued by their Government. This means proper distancing of workers on cleaning tables and in packaging areas. So far our plants are still running, although at a slightly reduced output.
Fishing in the Western Pacific for us has been quite disappointing. We are experiencing a very high Yellowfin catch (80%) ratio compared to normal (20%). As as result our Skipjack intake is far less than normal. At this moment, we are unsure of the reason of the effect. Overall demand for foodservice and wholesalers have dropped due to COVID-19 constraints but retail demand has increased drastically. Our plants will continue to run production but with a slight shift of focus towards retail product.
